Wood is a primary resource required for your settlement in After Inc.

Production[edit | edit source]

Currently, there are 2 ways of producing Wood (including scavenging) :

Lumberyard[edit | edit source]

The Lumberyard is able to produce 1.2 units of Wood monthly. There can be only 1 Lumberyard per Area with the Wood resource initially, but with each Technology Research level, an additional Lumberyard may be placed in each Wood Area (costing 1 more than the previous level)

The Forestry Huts are an unlockable upgrade from completing levels. Upon researching Technology 2, each Lumberyard will increase its' production of Wood by 30% (0.36 extra monthly units of Wood)

Consumption[edit | edit source]

Most buildings require Wood to build them. It's good to always have some Wood to be able to construct new buildings to expand your Settlement's production facilities or provide new services.

To produce Fuel (essential in Winter), you must have a Wood to process into Fuel. Each Firewood Splitter building type requires 0.24 units of Wood monthly in order to properly run.

Each Carpentry Service requires 0.72 units of Wood and a Workshop Service requires 1.08 units of Wood monthly to work.

Running out of Wood[edit | edit source]

Running out of Wood should not have any truly bad consequences, unless you are in the middle of a Winter, in which case your Firewood Splitters will cease to work! Therefore, be careful not to build any buildings that won't have the Wood required to build them, otherwise Wood will be prioritised towards building, instead of the essential fuel industry that is keeping your settlement from freezing.

Running out of Wood for the Carpentry or Workshop services usually won't affect you much, as they are demands that start to matter from your 6th and 10th Settler respectively. By that point your Wood production should be sorted out and other services are recommended to be provided to your Settlers, so that they cushion any potential morale drops that might occur temporarily.
