Resources
Resources are essential items needed for the settlement to survive in After Inc. They are mainly consumed by the settlement population and services. Some decisions also require the player to use a certain amount of resources. Resources are usually made by their respective production buildings, and scavenging. Artifacts can also provide new production buildings and give resource bonuses.
Each resource screen consists of the supply chain (production/consumption), useful tips, and a line chart showing the stockpile over time.
When there is a shortage of a specific resource, it can affect morale (depending on the type of resource). Lack of Food, Water, or Fuel will reduce the health of Fighters when they are outside of a claimed area.
Scavenging resources[edit | edit source]
The player can scavenge the map to find a specific resource. Each scavenge initially costs 1 stamina (2 for medicine and material, and 4 for stone).
Stamina costs increase the more you scavenge (but can not increase further than the maximum cost), and decrease when you explore new areas (especially when you explore cities) and increase the current population. The stamina cost will not decrease below the minimum costs; instead, the minimum cost will remain in place until you have scavenged an equal amount of times with the total number of explored areas and population.
The scavenge discount population trait can reduce the scavenge cost to 0.
When scavenging, the player can get a maximum of 3 resource bubbles from random 30-50 turns. The speed when scavenging can be affected by certain artifacts, and maximum resource bubbles () can be affected by situations. The amount resources gain from popping bubbles by , and the total amount resources gain from scavenge will not over than
During a non-summer season, the speed when scavenging for Food or Water is reduced by 20%. There is also a higher chance of getting less the bubbles. (Maximum amount bubbles is reduced by ). Scavenging resources in settlement area or in area has zombies will also decrease scavenging speed by 20%.
During droughts, the maximum cost for scavenging water will temporarily increase to up to 10 stamina.
Scavenging will stop gain bubble resources when the current resource stockpile is full (>= 110%) but will not stop when the current goal is to produce or maintain a resource.
When choosing Seek Wisdom in the Cult of the Black Glass situation, all scavenging resources is replaced by Scavenge Relics, which increase authority for each scavenge but only gain 1 bubble.
Below is a table listing the average of number resources can get through scavenging:
Resource type | Average value per bubble (N) | Minimum Cost | Maximum Cost |
---|---|---|---|
Food | 3 | 1 | 10 |
Water | 2 | 1 | 1 |
Wood | 1.4 | 1 | 12 |
Fuel | 1.6 | 1 | 10 |
Medicine | 1.2 | 2 | 36 |
Stone | 1.6 | 4 | 72 |
Material | 1.2 | 2 | 36 |
Relics | 3 | 3 | 120 |
Storage[edit | edit source]
The player can build additional storage to increase the available stockpile for a specific resource.
Each storage increase the available stockpile by +60%. Medium storage can increase further up to +132%.
